EASTER IN AUSTRALIA

It seems to me very interesting to travel to Australia, although is far from Spain, it takes 12 hours by plane, there are 12000 kilometres. Its capital is Canberra and has an approximated population of 20 million inhabitants. Its currency is Australian dollar and its economy is included in the Commonwealth. Its official language is English and aborigines dialect. Its main cities are Sidney, Melbourne and Bribbane . Most of the people of Australia live in towns and cities. In fact, about 90 percent of the population lives in cities.

Easter is the most significant event of the Christian calender, commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ, the date on which Easter falls varies from year to year. It begins with Good Friday, the Friday before Easter, commemorates crucifixion of Jesus. During Good Friday meditate on Jesus's suffering. Easter Sunday is the commemoration of the resurrection os Jesus Christ, churches are usually filled with flowers and people sing special hymns. One tradition at Australian Easter is Pancake day associated with Shrove Tuesday. Many Australian groups and communities make and share pancakes. Selling pancakes to raise money for charity is also a popular activity. Easter Eggs are also popular, Eggs symbolising new life . They are traditionally eaten on Easter Sunday.

The four-day 'weekend'. This extra- long weekend for Australians, it take like a mini-holiday, and they usually travel for domestic air.
